Future opportunity

Video Editor & Camera Operator

Why this role exists

This role exists to carry video work through from filming (within an assigned scope) to a finished, versioned deliverable that is technically sound, well organised, and true to the brief.

What you will own

  • Camera/filming tasks within an assigned scope.
  • Ingest, organisation, backup and safe handoff of footage.
  • Offline/online editing, and collaborating on finishing where relevant.
  • Versioning, captions, platform-specific formats and exports.
  • Technical quality checks before handoff.
  • Keeping projects, files and versions organised enough for someone else to pick up.
  • Realistic post-production estimates and early risk flags.

What good performance looks like

Cuts and exports land on time. Technical and versioning errors after QA are rare. Editing time tracks close to estimate. Source footage stays secure and complete. Another editor could pick up your project from your files and notes.

Required competencies

  • Narrative editing in a professional NLE.
  • Media management: proxies, codecs and backup discipline.
  • Camera operation.
  • Basic colour/sound judgement and working with a specialist on finishing.
  • Versioning, captions and platform delivery specs.
  • Careful, secure handling of source material.
  • Taking creative feedback constructively.

Nice to have

  • Experience across both branded content and longer-form production.
  • Colour grading or sound design experience.
  • Motion graphics / basic VFX experience.

Tools, team and working context

This role is shared with SOWA Films and works with a producer or project owner depending on the production. On-set physical production logistics sit outside this role's core day-to-day editing responsibility.
